2023 NBA All-Star Game: Team Giannis vs. Team LeBron odds, picks and predictions

Team Giannis (0-2) and Team LeBron (5-0) meet Sunday at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. The draft is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET before tip-off (TNT). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Team Giannis vs. Team LeBron odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The All-Star draft will occur right before tip-off, with F LeBron James picking 1st after receiving the most votes in the balloting process. The starters from both conferences must all be drafted before James and F Giannis Antetokounmpo may start picking from the reserves.

The game will feature an Elam Ending scoring system, with the game clock being turned off after 3 quarters and both teams racing to a certain score in order to win. The target score will be the sum of 24 and the total points of the team that is leading at the start of the 4th quarter.

Team LeBron is 2-0 against Team Giannis. Team LeBron won the 1st meeting 178-164 in the 2019 All-Star Game and edged Team Giannis 157-155 in 2020.

Team Giannis at Team LeBron picks and predictions

Team Giannis 160, Team LeBron 151

Antetokounmpo told Ernie Johnson from TNT’s Inside the NBA Feb. 9, “My goal is to beat LeBron [in the All-Star Game]. … I cannot be 0-3 against him.” Despite not receiving the 1st overall pick, Team Giannis should follow the lead of its captain and be more focused on winning than Team LeBron.  Antetokounmpo has shown multiple signs that he is taking All-Star Weekend seriously this year, and even told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Friday after coaching in the Celebrity All-Star Game that he wants to be a coach after he retires. Take the more motivated team to pull off the upset.

Against the spread

There is no need to take the points on Team Giannis when the underdog should win straight up Sunday. Bet the moneyline and/or total instead.

BET UNDER 325.5 (-108).

The last 3 All-Star Games have gone Under this total and Antetokounmpo’s motivation to finally beat Team LeBron should make this matchup more competitive than past meetings. Look for Team Giannis to set the defensive tone early and for Team LeBron to eventually follow suit and help the Under hit Sunday.
