Airlander 10 airships plan for Highlands transport moves forward

Airlander 10 airships could soon be soaring over the Highlands as part of a green transport plan

1. Plans to introduce airships as a new form of green transport in the Highlands are continuing to move forward.

Hybrid Air Vehicles and the Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (Hitrans) are to work together to develop a full business case for the venture.

It builds on a previous feasibility study which indicated there was an opportunity to improve the provision of low-carbon passenger and freight services with minimal requirements to upgrade infrastructure.

The helium-filled Airlander 10 aircraft is slated to go into production by the end of the decade.

Hybrid Air Vehicles has now reserved six of its early production slots for Hitrans.
