Anne’s best thrifty outfits as she rewears 30-year-old coat in Scotland

Princess Anne pulled off the ultimate sustainable fashion trick as she carried out four engagements in Scotland on Monday.

The royal, 73, wore a green tweed jacket with gorgeous velvet detailing along the collar and pockets.

Anne first debuted the look in 1990 and wore it at several royal engagements in 1996, including on a visit to Dunblane in Scotland with her late mother Queen Elizabeth.

It’s not the first time the Princess Royal has opted to rewear her clothes however, as she often chooses to rewear outfits to royal engagements.

Here, Express.co.uk looks at some of Princess Anne’s thrifty looks that she’s debuted over the years.

Wearing a tweed coat with a green velvet collar, Anne carried out two engagements in Lockerbie, a town just 15m from the border with England.

She started with a visit to the MacRebur plastic company, where she received a tour of the factory and learned about the company’s manufacturing and testing process.

Anne then travelled two miles to Lockerbie’s Garden of Remembrance at Dryfesdale Cemetery in Dumfries where she paid tribute to the victims of the UK’s deadliest terrorist attack in 1988.

Princess Anne wore the coat on a visit to Scotland over 27 years ago.

She joined the late Queen Elizabeth on a visit to Dunblane Primary School on March 17, 1996.

They were joined by a member of the Scottish Office to lay a wreath at the entrance of the school, where a gunman shot 16 children and a teacher on March 13, 1996.

Stepping out for the final day of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, Anne sported the timeless piece.

Princess Anne is a firm favourite at the festival, having attended many times in the past.

She has already made an appearance at this year’s event, alongside her daughter, Zara and son-in-law, Mike Tindall.

To accessorise, Anne opted for a faux-fur headpiece and a patterned shoulder bag.

Back in May 1997, Princess Anne was invited to officially open ‘Penguin World’ At Marwell Zoological Park In Winchester.

Despite the time of the year, the Princess Royal opted to shield herself from the seemingly spring-time breeze in her, now-timeless, red coat.

During the occasion, she was accompanied By John Knowles, who was the founder and director of the park.
