Emma Raducanu withdraws from Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells
Emma Raducanu won’t be making her return to action tonight in Indian Wells after withdrawing from the Eisenhower Cup. Raducanu, who hasn’t played since the Australian Open, was scheduled to team up with fellow Briton Cameron Norrie in the Eisenhower Cup mixed doubles event.
But just hours before the start of the Tie Break Tens event, Raducanu decided to withdraw from the event. Last week, Raducanu was scheduled to play at a WTA 250 event in Austin but she pulled out because of tonsilitis. Now, it is being reported that Raducanu is planning to compete in the Indian Wells women’s singles event.
“Emma Raducanu isn’t returning to the court tonight in mixed doubles with Cam Norrie. A spokesman said that her withdrawal is a ‘case of monitoring the body very carefully’ ahead of her first-round match in Indian Wells on Thursday,” Stuart Fraser of The Times reporter.

Raducanu is scheduled to play Danka Kovinic
On Monday, Raducanu learned her first-round opponent in Indian Wells as the 2021 US Open champion is set to play Kovinic. At the 2022 Australian Open, Raducanu and Kovinic met for the first time.
Back then, Kovinic claimed a three-set win over the Briton. Now, Raducanu and Kovinic are set to meet again. Raducanu hasn’t played since the Australian Open so she is probably lacking matches but Kovinic hasn’t been impressive lately either as the Montenegrin has lost her last three matches.
In Indian Wells, Raducanu is set to make her third appearance. In 2021, Raducanu made her Indian Wells debut. That year, Indian Wells was held in late 2021 and Raducanu was a seeded player after winning the US Open. In her first-ever Indian Wells match, Raducanu was beaten by Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Last March, Raducanu also had a first-round bye in Indian Wells but this time she was able to beat Caroline Garcia before losing to Petra Martic in the third round. It remains to be seen how far can Raducanu go this year in Indian Wells.
