A SCOT has revealed an insight into living on one of the most remote islands.
In a ‘get ready with me’ video, she shares four interesting facts about her home which includes the Guinness World Record for the shortest domestic flight in the world.
Maddie says: “In Orkney… we actually have the shortest flight in the world.
“The flight goes from a small island called Westray to Papa Westry and it is only 53 seconds.
“I did it a couple of years ago.
“The plane only has five seats and it’s crazy noisy.
“Everyone else had little headphones on and it was also extremely bumpy like you felt everything.
“It’s a cool experience and you get a little certificate at the end.”
Maddie also revealed what one famous Scot did on a trip to the Ring of Brodgar.
Maddie said: “Billy Connolly, when he visited Orkney, ran round it [Ring of Brodgar] naked.”
Her next fun fact was the island of Papa Stronsay is home to monks and the general public are not allowed to visit.
But they would often see the monks on the island’s mainland in a large group doing their shopping.
And her final fact was anyone from Orkney is called an Orcadian and instead of saying the word lad they use the word ‘beuy’ .
