Moment Scotland Euro 2024 heroes are given rousing send off to Germany

STEVE CLARKE’S Tartan Army are off to Germany.

And the journey to Euro 2024 officially starts now as the national team squad make their way to Deutschland for the tournament opener against the hosts on Friday night.

Andy Robertson, John McGinn and co. will take on the likes of Manuel Neuer and Florian Wirtz on June 14 to kick-start the championships in Bayern Munich‘s Allianz Arena.

The Scots manager has picked his final 26-man squad for the tournament which includes the usual suspects as well as surprise call-ups in Bristol City duo Tommy Conway and Ross McCrorie.

Recently released Rangers star Ryan Jack has also secured his seat on the plane as well as Celtic‘s James Forrest, whose inspirational form at the end of last season earned him a recall to the senior squad after he helped the Hoops to another Scottish Premiership title.

Regular frontman Lyndon Dykes has missed out in heartbreaking fashion after picking up an injury in training when the squad began their preparations, while Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak also didn’t make it.

There was also disappointment for Gers defender John Souttar and veteran Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon as they both found themselves the unlucky pairing to be left out of the squad when it was cut from 28 to 26 men.

The 41-year-old shot stopper was given what could be his farewell in a Scotland jersey when he came off the bench for No1 Angus Gunn during the pre-tourney friendly with Finland on Friday night.

That game ultimately ended in frustration for Clarke’s side as the visitors secured a draw after hosts went into a two-goal lead after a Robertson’s cross was deflected in and Lawrence Shankland‘s header made it 2-0 in the second-half.

And the next time the team will be in action will be on German soil, and they were given some send off.

The players were serenaded in the most Scottish way possible as they boarded the plane from Glasgow Airport to the tune of BAGPIPES.

Meanwhile, Gordon has broken his silence after his axing from selection.

Scotland star rinsed for his ‘shocking’ Twitter bio as fans scream ‘get him off the plane to the Euros!’

He opened up on an emotional night as he became his country’s oldest ever player in his final match.
