Pensioner arrested after elderly woman found dead inside Scots home

A PENSIONER has been arrested after an elderly woman was found dead in a Scots home.

Cops were called to Macara Drive in Irvine, Ayrshire, yesterday afternoon.

When officers arrived they found the body of an 81-year-old woman inside the home.

They also found an injured 82-year-old man at the home who was raced to hospital.

Cops say the woman’s death is being treated as unexplained.

The injured man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say their investigation is currently ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.10pm on Sunday, 11 February, 2024, we were called to a report of the death of a woman at a property in Macara Drive, Irvine.

Emergency services attended and the body of an 81-year-old woman was found within.

“Her death is being treated as unexplained.

“The 82-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
