Scotland cerebral palsy football team wins World Championships

Scotland’s cerebral palsy football team have defeated Northern Ireland to become world champions.

They ran out 4-0 winners in the IFCPF World Championships final held in Salou on Thursday.

Captain Matthew Wynne opened the scoring after just six minutes to give Scotland an early lead just after Mark Robertson hit the bar.

Jamie Mitchell then produced a wonder strike into the top corner to double their lead on 23 minutes before Robertson made it 3-0 just two minutes later.

Bill McAdam’s side then had a penalty saved just before half-time as they threatened to put the game out of sight.

Wynne then scored his second and Scotland’s fourth just after the break to make it 4-0 with a 20-yard strike.
