Scotland hero spotted at Old Firm Cup final with radical hair change

FOOTBALLERS have often experimented with their hair.

England and Manchester United legend David Beckham was known for his ever-changing styles in the early 2000s, while the ‘Brazilian Ronaldo‘ infamously sported a bizarre number at the 2002 World Cup.

Now, a Scotland Euro 2024 star has unveiled his latest change to his hairdo.

Striker Lyndon Dykes has decided to channel his inner ‘Becks’ by adopting the braids.

The Queens Park Rangers forward, 28, had grown his hair longer the last time he took to the pitch for Steve Clarke‘s national team, a 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in March.

He previously favoured a much shorter look which many will be familiar with from his time up front at the last European Championships in 2021.

But now he will likely travel to Germany next month with his radical new style.

He could be seen sporting it while appearing as a guest on Open Goal live at the Hydro on Friday night – an evening which ended in BOOS for former Tartan Army favourite Robert Snodgrass.

The Aussie-born frontman then appeared at the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Rangers the following day.

Sharing a picture of the former Livingston No9, the competition‘s official Instagram page wrote: “@scotlandnationalteam’s @lyndondykes unveiled a fresh trim at Hampden Park ahead of yesterday’s Final.”

And fans’ views were mixed.

One emphatically replied: “Lyndon YIKES.”

Another saw the similarity with the former Three Lions skipper and wrote: “David Beckham called from 2003…”

Meanwhile, others pointed out the resemblance to ex-Hoops loanee Diego Laxalt.

This user said: “Diego Laxalt would blush.”

This was followed up by someone else asking: “What in the Diego Laxalt is going on here?”

However, the reaction was not all negative, with this supporter declaring it as “the haircut that’ll win the Euros for Scotland, scary as hell, imagine being a defender seeing him run towards you”.

Dykes, who this week was called up as part of Clarke’s provisional squad for the tournament, has previous when it comes to replicating legends of the past when it comes to hairstyles.

He even adopted THAT trim from ‘R9’ last summer.
