Steve Clarke Scotland boost as UEFA confirm Euro 2024 squad size increased

Original rules had set a limit of 23 players to be selected by football associations for the tournament.

And that comes as a boost for Steve Clarke with further options available for his squad this summer. 

Under the revised squad number ruling, teams must submit a squad list of between 23 and 26 players.

The deadline for the selection is June 7.

A UEFA statement confirmed: “The maximum squad size for #EURO2024 teams has been increased from the original quota of 23 to 26 players.

“Teams must provide a squad list containing between 23 and 26 players by 7 June.”

Before then, Scotland have friendlies against Gibraltar and Finalnd lined up for next month.

Clarke’s side will travel to Gibraltar on June 3 before a Hampden contest against Finland on June 7.

Then it will be onto the tournament finals where Scotland will open the competition against hosts Germany on June 14.

Scotland then face Switzerland and Hungary in the remaining two group stage fixtures after the showpiece curtain-raiser.
