Scotland comprehensively defeated Oman in match 20 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by 7 wickets in Antigua on June 9, taking them top of the table in group B in the race towards the Super Eights.

Chasing Oman’s 150, Scotland opener, Michael Alexander Jones got them off to a good start with two sixes and a four until the end of the third over where the Pakistan-born Bilal Khan dismissed him with a back-of-the-length delivery.

At 2.6, after hitting a boundary two balls before, Jones charged in down the pitch when Khan bowled a short-pitched delivery on the leg stump line which was hoisted up by the Scottish opener towards mid-off region with zero control.

Mehran Khan comfortably caught the ball as Oman struck the first wicket of the innings, reducing Scotland to 21/1.

However, the incoming batter, Brandon McMullen came in and went for an onslaught, helping the team from the UK to chase down the target in 13.1 overs.

With the second win after an abandoned game against England, Scotland will be fancying their chances to go to the second round of the tournament as underdogs from the group.

Up next, they will be facing Australia on the night of June 15 at the same venue.
