Gibraltar Vs Scotland Prediction: The Panel’s Best Bets, Tips And Preview

Gibraltar vs Scotland Predictions:

Scotland step up preparations for their Euro 2024 campaign in a friendly clash with Gibraltar on Monday (5pm, Premier Sports 1).

Steve Clarke’s men are winless in their last seven games and there will be concerns about their form entering the competition with their opener against Germany on June 14.

Gibraltar provide a great chance for Scotland to find their form in front of goal, although Clarke will have to find a new man through the middle after Lyndon Dykes was ruled out the Euros after suffering an injury in training.

Scotland are overwhelming favourites on UK betting sites, with Gibraltar priced at 70/1 to spring the upset. The Panel have looked at the key factors for this game and picked three betting predictions for you to consider.

Gibraltar vs Scotland Prediction: A Comfortable Scotland Win?

If Scotland were looking for a side where they could regain the winning feeling against, Gibraltar would be near the top of the list. Gibraltar have lost their last 12 matches in all competitions, including a 14-0 hammering at the hands of France.

After finishing bottom of their European Championship qualifying group, losing all eight matches in the process, Gibraltar then suffered a 2-0 aggregate defeat to Lithuania in their Nations League play-out to drop down to League D.

Head coach Julio Cesar Ribas will be hopeful of an improvement from his team, although Scotland will be out to capitalise on their woes to rediscover their best form ahead of the Euros.

Clarke’s men have lost momentum after producing a brilliant run to book their spot in Germany. They won their opening five qualifiers, including a 2-0 triumph over Spain at Hampden Park.

Since then, Scotland have lost to England, Spain, France and Netherlands along with a worrying 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland last time out.

Teams of a similar calibre have been able to expose Gibraltar, notably Wales and the Republic of Ireland who scored five and four goals respectively.

Even without Dykes, Scotland have talent in the final third with Che Adams expected to lead the line, although Lawrence Shankland is also an option.

The Panel are optimistic that Scotland have enough firepower to see off Gibraltar by a comfortable margin especially after scoring 17 goals during qualifying. The problem for wagering on a Scotland win is getting value on football betting sites

The Panel believe that the handicap is the best option with –3 available at 21/20 with Betway, which only pays out if Scotland win by four goals or more.

The Panel Tip: Scotland –3 Handicap – 21/20 Betway

Gibraltar vs Scotland Betting: Adams To Stake Claim

Without Dykes in the final third, Scotland are not blessed with a great deal of attacking options. For Clarke the decision will come down to either Adams or Shankland to spearhead the attack against Germany in the opener and the rest of the tournament.

Shankland is coming off a great season for Hearts, scoring 31 goals in all competitions, but is more of a poacher in the box rather than a complete forward.

Adams offers more in that regard and had an impressive campaign for Southampton in their run to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. The 27-year-old didn’t start in the Saints’ win over Leeds at Wembley but came off the bench.

However, his impact over the course of the season was vital in steering Southampton back to the top flight, notching 16 goals in all competitions. He was in solid form towards the end of the campaign, scoring six in his last 10 games including two braces.

Adams’ international record is not great, but Gibraltar could offer him the opportunity to improve his statistics. The Panel like Adams’ form towards the end of the season and his odds on betting apps at 5/2 to score two goals or more.

The Panel Tip: Che Adams To Score Two Goals Or More – 5/2 Betfred

Gibraltar vs Scotland Tips: Highest Scoring Half?

Looking at Gibraltar’s recent history, there have been even splits in the goals they have conceded in each half. In their defeats to France, Netherlands and Ireland, each side had a perfect split scoring exactly half of their goals either side of the interval.

However, in their two losses to Lithuania, Gibraltar were exposed in the second half of both matches due to tired legs and the quality of their opponents eventually finding a crack in their defence.

It may take time for Scotland to find a breakthrough, but once they do the floodgates could open. The Panel are backing the second half to be the highest scoring at 19/20 with Betway.

The Panel Tip: Second Half Highest Scoring – 19/20 Betway
