Sunday marked a momentous occasion for Scotland as they secured their maiden qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year. Led by their inspirational captain Kathryn Bryce, Scotland achieved this historic feat, adding a significant chapter to their cricketing journey.

Scotland Confirms Trip To Bangladesh

Their qualification was confirmed after a convincing 8-wicket victory over Laura Delany’s Ireland in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Opting to bowl first, Scotland’s bowlers put up a stellar performance, restricting Ireland to 110 for 9.

Kathryn Bryce, aged 26, was exceptional, delivering a remarkable spell of 4 overs, conceding just 8 runs and claiming 4 wickets, including 19 dot balls. Rachel Slater provided valuable support with 3 wickets, despite conceding 32 runs in her 3 overs. Priyanaz Chatterji and Hannah Rainey remained wicketless but maintained decent economy rates.

In the chase, Saskia Horley fell early, but Megan McColl anchored the innings with a composed 50 off 47 balls, setting the stage for Scotland’s victory. Following her outstanding bowling performance, Kathryn Bryce remained unbeaten on 35 off 29 balls, guiding Scotland to victory with 22 balls to spare.

Kathryn’s contributions were pivotal throughout the tournament, leading the run-scoring charts with 177 runs from 5 matches at an impressive average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 112.02. Her consistent performances included two half-centuries, with a top score of 63 not out against Thailand.
